The NEAPNEA board voted last month to update the organization’s mission statement, with an eye toward focusing and refining the services that it provides to members. To the same end, the group has also released a short year-end member survey. (Click here to take the survey.)
The revised mission statement reads: "The purpose of this organization shall be to stimulate the cooperative efforts of these news organizations toward creation of the best possible Associated Press service in the six New England states by acting as a voice and advocate for these news organizations' needs to the AP, and such other general activities as shall help members improve service in all media; including developing or adopting new technologies, educating news staffs and undertaking other activities to help members seize opportunities for growth in a changing information environment." During the discussion about the new mission statement, board members emphasized the new version is meant to open up NEAPNEA functions beyond the print medium of its founding, as well as reemphasize the organization's potential role providing newspaper member feedback to AP headquarters to insure that that AP is meeting member needs as newsroom operations change technologically and operationally. |
